I have an idea for an iphone app, like everyone else, but I do not know anyone that can write the code or develop the apps. I am looking for advice on how such a relationship typically works financially as well as best way to find someone you can trust to give your idea and actually develop it for you.
I did a quick search but could not find anything, also this app requires more than the quick little online websites offer.

Hey guys and gals, looking for a little expert insight...
I have a Mac Mini (mid-2010, non-server model running 10.6.7) hooked up to my TV for a pretty sweet home theater setup. At some point in the near future, I'm going to, one way or another, have a media server set up to stream to other TV's in the house (using either my wife's PC or my old Xbox with XBMC installed), watch on my iPhone and MBA away from home, etc. I've been eying a few NAS systems, but I noticed OS X Lion will include server functionality. Does this mean I could just hook a large external HD to my Mac Mini and use it as a server instead of buying a stand-alone server? And if so, should I? Are there advantages to going with a stand alone unit (like the Synology 211J, which I've had my eye on?)

If price is an issue there's always the refurbs. I saw the base 21.5" model from July 2010 in there the other day for $800 or so. :eek:

I have an early 2008 Mac Pro.
My drive sometimes won't read discs, I've used it so much. I want to buy a new drive. My question is, do I get a blu ray drive(not BR burner) or get a regular DVD burner, like a superdrive.
The price difference seems to be about $40-$50. What benefit is there to having a blu ray drive. I don't think I'll ever watch a br movie from there. And I dont think I'll want to rip BRs either
Thoughts? Advice?

It seems that AirDrop is going to be Apple's solution to iTunes' awkward role as an iOS app file management system.
A document created/edited in an iOS app needs to be sync'd into iTunes and then pulled from there to be edited/displayed on a Mac, and then put back in iTunes and sync'd once again to the iOS device. It's very clumsy. AirDrop will enable a simple AirDrop button in iOS apps to send the file to a Mac with ease.
What other iOS integrations can we expect? Is there any good reason why an Apple device like a Mac can't integrate with another Apple device like an iPhone to make and manage text messages or even phone calls from that Mac in the proximity of said iPhone?

Something to this affect should work. You need to tweak the quotation marks obviously. Replace "Application" with the app you want to find the version.
I don't know much about AppleScript, but why escape from AppleScript into the shell just to enter AppleScript again.

I have just moved to Edinburgh, Scotland (a beautiful city!) to work abroad for 6 months or so... I have a powermac at home (in the States) that I thought would be unreasonable to bring with me overseas, and have been planning to get a powerbook when I got here. I had been holding off on ordering one until the Paris Expo in case a new revision was announced, but seeing as the chances of that are quite slim, I am considering just getting one. I do, however, have a few concerns.
I do want a US model, with the US keyboard layout and everything. I also assume that they can take a 220v power line, correct? So I would only need a plug adapter? Also, will it cost an arm and a leg to send the powerbook here, if I order a US model? Not expactly sure how this works... any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Well I was bored today so I decided to find a way to pull apart my no longer used Apple Pro Mouse; i cant leave things alone so I HAD to modify it. I installed a very high intensity Blue LED and a Blue Apple logo. What do you guys think? if there is demand, I took pictures when taking apart the mouse (without wrecking it) and would be happy to make tutorial on how to do this. :D

So yeah. I have this old iMac G3 that has been sitting in my closet for years, it hasn't been used for over 5 years. So I turn it on yesterday after discovering all the old Mac games on Macintoshgarden, and it works! :D
The specs go as follows:
G3 333 mhz, 64 MB RAM, 6 GB HD, OS 9.2.2
If i buy two 128 MB sticks at OWC, will I be able to run any Mac game from 2001 and older just fine? The early early Mac OS X games built for 10.0-10.1 that are 3D but also compatible with OS 9 are the ones that scare me the most.

Has anyone had success with a mini DVI to HDMI female adaptor? (to avoid VGA). Or is the problem to do with the Mac Mini (e.g. Doesn't send HDCP compliant signals like PowerBook does)??
I have a 2009 Mac Mini with both mini-DVI->HDMI and mini-DisplayPort->HDMI - Both seem to work nicely, although I'm not sure if it supports HDCP or not. You could also try doing DVI into your TV
