Anyone have any luck getting the $18.00 fee waived when they upgraded their iPhone? If so what tactic did you use....Just ask, tell them they did it for a friend etc....
Why not just pay the $18.00 and get it over with? Honestly, $18.00 isn't bad at all. It's really nothing.

I didn't really want to look through all of these downloads to see if what you want is here, but Apple has an older software downloads page here (http://support.apple.com/kb/TA48312?viewlocale=en_US). It may have some of what you want.

I can't believe I did this......showed up at 2:30am and waited with folks already there since 12. First guy was there at 12, and ended up not being able to get one for whatever reason. I was fourth in line tho, and walked out of the store with the first one. Our Att had a similar amount in stock. I'm glad I waited tho. LOL.
Hi Katt505.... couple questions...
- How do you like your new phone?
- Did they have many in stock at the AT&T store on 44?
- Any signs of 3G around here?
I live in Poughkeepsie and am trying to decide if I want to upgrade from the original iPhone to iPhone 3G... One thing I'm finding, and I never thought this would happen, is I need more space (have an 8GB) with all these apps, movies, etc. (had to clear off some music to make room!) Other than that, the only benefit would be GPS I think since 3G is still nonexistent around here.

I think I may pull the trigger on one of these deals in a few months, when Lion comes out. I don't want to have to re-install the OS after getting one with Snow Leopard.
Alternatively, I can wander into an Apple Retail Store and see what custom configurations they have, I have a credit card limit set, that's why I have to resort to either buying straight from retail (and pay using a debit card) or eBay using Paypal. I wish the online Apple Store took interac Debit cards.

He should to upgrade to at least 768MB. I would not run Tiger using less than 512, the computer is crippled with pageins/pageouts.

I had an idea, in the iFixIt teardown they mentioned it is now possible to replace the graphics chips in the new iMac's, I would like to buy a base model iMac, 999. And then swap the graphics in for a AMD Radeon HD 6970M graphics chip with 1GB or 2GB memory.
But I can't find any chips online to buy? Can you not buy these?

I'd meet up if I 1) had a car to get down there (damn people who run red lights) and 2) didn't already have an Apple Store up here in ABQ. ;)

no not yet, thought i'd run it by this forum first, i do already own guitar rig, but no the mic/preamp. Ideally what i'm looking to do is set up my own youtube page with video and also music of me playing.
The plan is to use the new ipad 2 to record myself in HD,but i've a rather expensive mesa boogie rectifier amp so would like to capture its sound and not a distortion created by garageband, i just want to use garage band for recording and editing the track to fit with the video.
Can you recommond a decent preamp?

Pat's right on the money. To create the chemical reaction that releases light from the phosphors in the backlight tubes, a certain specific number of free electrons are needed which come from the cathode in the tube.
When the current is first applied to the cathode, it takes some time to get up to that level. When it does, it often overshoots the mark and then quickly stabilizes at a lower level. This appears as a brief initial flash of light that quickly dims.
At that point there are enough free electrons in the tube to sustain the reaction that generates light, but in the first few seconds and even minutes of the reaction, there are still phosphors that can accept an electron that are not being filled. You might say that there is a glut of electrons. Eventually, the supply and demand sides of the curve meet and you get the final result.
The same thing happens with CRTs, that's why graphics designers are supposed to turn their monitors on at least fifteen minutes before they start working, for color-matching purposes.

If I remember correctly, you should rebuild the LS database (the equivalent of rebuilding the desktop is OS 9). Download Panther Cache Cleaner, and it has an option to do so. That should fix it (correct me if I am wrong).

I recently had a HDD failure on my iMac and decided to try and do a clean install and use Migration Assistant to migrate over my user data (wouldn't recommend this; there's just not enough fine grained control in MA to make it worthwhile). Anyway, I'm missing an item on my finder toolbar and was wondering if anyone has any hints as to what it may have been. While I can't remember what it was, it may have been useful from time to time. The only hint I have to what it is, is in the com.apple.finder.plist. The item-id is 'flxs'. If anyone can point me to what these item-ids reference I can probably pull some info out of my Time Machine backup.

My logic board went out today and Apple said it would be $280 plus tax for them to fix it. Mine is the logic board, it won't work.
My question is this: I have had the MacBook for over 4 years, I've upgraded the RAM and Hard Drive. Should I get the computer fixed or just invest in a new one? $300+ to get it fixed and risk something else going out since it is 4 years old or purchase something new?
Thoughts?

Thanks for that, I'll get my mac nephew to have a look; he thinks I'm swearing at him when I used to ask him questions about my PC!
Generally, would it make everything better, and faster, if I simply ditched the Netgear router and bought another Airport Express?
It certainly wouldn't be faster nor easier. If you can put the AE into bridge mode, you're done. :)

There is a lot of talk about this in the Mac Pro forum, you should look around at existing threads there.
Your two card strategy doesn't make any sense. Adding a second card doesn't "take the strain" off the first card, whatever that means.
You specifically mention SLI/Crossfire, but those don't work in OS X.
